Woodpecker Alley is a very special place in the eastern foothills of Colorado. Situated in a transitional zone between foothills and montane ecosystems, it contains diverse habitats for plants and animals seldom seen or noticed by most humans.
Although these pages lack the motion, smell and touch that completes our understanding of the natural world, I hope that you’ll find a spark of recognition and share your own experience of life as you see it.
Just select one of the sliding panels above or go to the menu to enter a habitat, then click on a gallery photo to begin a slide show. This website is still under construction

Beautiful photos! Thank for sharing.
Check out some photos of my wife’s Sylvan Dale Guest Ranch on-line:

Hey Audrey, thank you for coming to Staunton and showing us what you find in the wild. How I wish I could have joined you in your hike after the meeting. Alas, I had a show to do. Later I showed your website to one of our most serious birders. He was continually astonished as was I and he would mutter, “How does she find these birds?” I think you must devote a great deal of your time outdoors. Even then I think our dear Lord must bless you now and then with a great discovery, or so it seems from the fantastic images you’ve captured. Brava!
Thank you for your kind words, Rex! I’m so happy that you enjoyed the presentation. It was fun to meet you and the other volunteers who work so hard to keep Staunton State Park a wild and beautiful place.
My sister bought me one of your pictures – Broadtail Humminbird Mom & Chick. I would like another one. Can I purchase through your web site?
Please accept my apology…I was never notified of your message and only saw it now. Please let me know if you’re still interested in the hummingbird mom and chick photo? Thank you! ~Audrey
Hi Audrey, this is the only way I know to reach you. I’m wanting to see the photos you got from Hank and Barbie’s party. Hoping to see some photos of party and the musicians I invited. It was so good of you to record this great day with your skilled hand and eye.
Beautiful capturing of nature’s splendor!
Thank you, Robin! I’m thrilled that you enjoy these and am reminded that it’s time to update with new photos…coming soon!
Hi Audrey,
I’m wondering if you’re still doing a bird count, and if hasn’t already happened, can I join you this year? I’ve always meant to take part, but never really connected with you.
Let me know.
Thanks
Jim
Hi Jim! I’ll pass your contact information on to the person who’s coordinating this year’s count and hope to see you then!
Love you and your amazing photos Audrey.
